Saturday, Nov 14 - 7:00 pm Sestraluna Show at Chesapeake Arts Center, we will perform Lion Dance, Group Tai Chi form (ambushed on 10 sides "Shi Mian Mai Fu"), kung fu forms and weapons. Be sure to sign up if you want to participate. Because of time limitations, not everyone who volunteers may be able to participate, but the sooner you sign up, the better your chances!

Monday, Nov 16 - 9:00 am to 10:00 am, special 10 class session of tai chi for seniors begins. Only $60, but you must be over 50 to participate.

Tuesday, Nov 17 - 6:30 pm to 7:15 pm, come to the Good Life Organic Market at 485 Ritchie Hwy for Free Tea & Tai Chi. Sip tea while learning about the benefits of tai chi.

Thursday, Nov 19 - 5:30 pm at Earleigh Heights Fire Hall. We will demo at 5:30 pm as part of the Holiday Trade Fair. Event runs from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with lots of entertainment, give-aways, refreshments and exhibitors.

Follow Rt. 2 south to where it intersects Rt. 50. Take the left lane (50 East/450 South) to 450 South/Naval Academy. Just before you get to the Naval Academy bridge over the Severn River there is a stop light.

Take a left at the light there, onto B&A Blvd (again, I did mention B&A meanders a bit, didn’t I?).

At the next light, turn right onto Kincaid. Watch the speed limit very closely from here on out! It’s 25 mph here. You’ll pass the Navy Exchange/Commissary complex on your right, then a gas station (great prices, but you have to have a military id), and then the guard shack. (At this point it is not manned, but if something happens to escalate the threat condition we’ll need to submit names and license plate numbers for all the vehicles that are joining the party. In that case, email me or let me know at the testing.)

Take the first left (Alder Road), into the housing area, and drop your speed to 10 mph.

Pass the youth center and the park.

Turn right (Holly Road, but not marked) before the baseball field, and start looking for a parking space. The pool is straight ahead, at the intersection of Holly and Eucalyptus. 

There is a playground and picnic tables just across the "street", if people want to come early.

Saturday, May 20, 2006 - Anne Arundel County Health & Wellness Fair at Severna Park High School from 9:00 am to noon. Jing Ying will perform a Lion Dance for the opening ceremony at 9:00 am, will offer a free tai chi workshop from 10:00 to 10:30 am, and will demonstrate forms, weapons and fighting sets at 11:00 am.

Sunday, February 5, 2006 - Chinese New Year parade in Washington, DC.

Monday, February 6, 2006 - Free Reiki workshop from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Learn more about this form of energy healing involving the application of Chi.

Tuesday, February 7, 2006 - Free self-defense workshop for mothers and daughters from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - Free Kids Kung Fu class from 4:00 pm to 5:00pm. Suitable for children for 5 to 10, this workshop will include an introductory lesson in Kung Fu, will provide information on Chinese New Year, and  will teach some of the basics of Chinese Lion Dance.

Thursday, February 9, 2006 – Free Acupressure Workshop from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Learn about self-acupressure for pain relief. This workshop will focus on the back, neck and shoulders. Presented by:

Saturday, February 11, 2006 - Open House with refreshments and entertainment from noon to 2:00 pm. At noon, there will be a Lion Dance performance followed by demonstrations of Kung Fu forms and weapons. At 1:00 pm, there will be a free introductory lesson in Kung Fu.

January 2006

Saturday, January 28, 2006 -  Testing at Jing Ying from 11:00 am to noon, followed by our Chinese New Year "Cleansing" party. BYOB (Bring Your Own Broom or vacuum). Come to help clean and do some painting. We will provide pizza and soda.

Sunday, January 29, 2006 -  First day of the Chinese New Year, ushering in the Year of the Dog. Chinese New Year celebration lasts until February 12, 2006.

December 2005

Saturday, December 17, 2005 - Testing at Jing Ying from 11:00 am to noon, followed by our Holiday Party from noon to 2:00 pm. We'll have games, refreshments and more! This will also be the end of our silent auction to support the hurricane relief efforts of The Arc, a charity supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. They had many group homes damaged by the hurricanes in the Gulf. You can see a partial listing of items in the Silent Auction at: Silent Auction
 

Saturday, December 24, 2005 - Jing Ying will be closed for Christmas Eve.

Monday, December 26 through Thursday, December 29, 2005 - Jing Ying will operate on holiday hours as follows:

Kids Kung Fu classes will be at regular time (4:00 to 5:00 pm), but will be open to all levels. Tigers and Dragons can attend classes together all 4 days.

Adult Kung Fu classes will be from 5:00 to 6:30 pm for all levels. Students may bow out at the 6:00 pm break, but advanced belt students are expected to stay to 6:30 pm. Lower belt students who want a longer workout are welcome to stay as well. There will be no Kung Fu classes after 6:30 pm.

Tai Chi, Self-Defense and PE classes will follow their regular schedule. Verify with your instructor.

Saturday, December 31, 2005 - Jing Ying will be closed for New Year's Eve.

Friday, November 4, 2005 - Jing Ying Institute has the honor of performing a Lion Dance for the grand opening of the Asian Arts Gallery in Towson. The gallery is part of the Asian Arts and Cultural Center and the grand opening ceremony is a special preview only for members and visiting dignitaries. Monday, November 7, 2005 - Jing Ying Institute will have Master Chen ZhengLei give a Tai Chi workshop from 7 to 9 pm. He is one of the top 10 Martial Arts Masters of China today and one of the Four "diamonds" of Chen Style Taiji. This is a rare opportunity to train with such a well regarded master! Saturday, June 4th, 2005 - Cape Saint Claire Strawberry Festival and Parade. Parade will start 10:00 am at the Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company on 1411 Cape St. Claire Road and end at the main beach on River Bay Road. Festival will feature over 50 crafters, 3 bands, lots of food vendors, rock wall, moon bounce, beer garden and strawberry kitchen with lots of strawberry treats. Rain date is June 5th.

Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 am - Monthly Testing at Jing Ying Institute

Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29  from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm - Grandmaster Zhu Tiancai will present a workshop on Fajin (Explosive power) Training in Chen Style Taijiquan at the Bretton Woods Clubhouse in Germantown, Maryland. Master Zhu will explain in his familiar direct show-and-tell approach the training of Fajin. He will teach the seldom-presented 42-movement Fajin set. This is the 36-movement set that Chen Zhao-kui (Chen Fa-ke's son) taught him, with 6 movements added. Although the topic may sound advanced, beginners will also benefit, as understanding the discipline required of Fajin training will give you clear insight of how and what to practice in your regular form routines. So the workshop is invaluable to deepen your knowledge of Taijiquan.

Wednesday, April 27 at 6:30 pm. - In preparation for World Tai Chi/Qigong day and to help promote information about Tai Chi, the Jing Ying Institute will offer a free 90 minute Tai Chi workshop.

Saturday, April 30, 2005 at 10:00 am - 8th Annual World Tai Chi Qigong Day at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, Maryland. Will start with a Lion Dance performance followed by free workshops in Yoga, Qigong, and 3 styles of Tai Chi.
