Jing Ying

2009 Silent Auction for SPAN

Holiday Party  and Open House on Saturday, December 19 from noon to 2:30 pm

Rescheduled for Tuesday, December 22, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm!

Demonstrations, food, refreshments, games and fun! Bring your friends and family.

The Silent Auction runs October 31 - December 19, 2009

Final bids will be taken at the Jing Ying Holiday Party on December 19, 2009 (the party starts at noon following the 11:00 am test, with bidding ending at 2:00 pm). We'll start the festivities with a Chinese Lion Dance, demonstrate Kung Fu forms and weapons, then move on to contests, refreshments and bidding!

It's still not too late to make donations. Not only will you help a great charity, you can also promote your business. We leave links up for each year's donors so you get long term visibility on our web site. As soon as you make a donation, it will be put on display; so the sooner you donate, the longer our students will be able to view your donation. We welcome your business cards and/or literature to make available to students/bidders.

Proceeds benefit the Severna Park Assistance Network (SPAN), a local organization that provides emergency food and financial services to families. The three main areas of assistance are in the area of: prevention of evictions, utility disruption, and medical or prescription needs.

A big thank you to our generous donors! We'll update listings and links to our donors as we get more information and more items.

If you can't make it to the silent auction on December 19th, you can email your bids. We will accept bids until midnight on Wednesday, December 16th. If your bid is higher than the final bid at 2pm on Saturday, December 19th, then you will be the winner. It is not a sophisticated auction system, but it does allow off-site bidding.

We are also sponsoring a family for the holidays through SPAN and need donations of food, clothing, and gifts for the children. We have details at the school. Additionally, a container is set up near the silent auction area where you can donate canned goods for SPAN's food pantry. For every can you donate, you will receive a ticket to enter into our door prize drawings.

Sock Hop for the Homeless - Jing Ying is a collection center for donations of
new socks, scarves, gloves, and mittens for the homeless. They will benefit the Light House Shelter, Sarah's House and also needy families seeking assistance through SPAN.
