Tsunami relief
The Jing Ying Institute at 1195 Baltimore Annapolis
Blvd., No. 6, Arnold, is sponsoring a fund-raiser that will include a
Chinese New Year celebration with lion dances, an indoor yard sale, free
lessons, martial arts demonstrations, a kick-a-thon, a bake sale and
other activities.
Owners Nancy and Billy Greer wanted to help with relief efforts and
were brainstorming ideas when they became aware of fellow homeschooler
Debi Jasen's desire to organize an indoor yard sale to support Tsunami
relief efforts. The community is being asked to donate items for a yard
sale or attend the event to shop for goods.
Activities will start Feb. 11 with a 90-minute introductory Tai
Chi class at 7:30 p.m. The fee is $5 with all proceeds being donated.
On Feb. 12, the school will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The
yard sale and bake sale will run continuously during this time and
various free demonstrations, classes and activities will be scheduled
during the day. Visit www.JingYing.org
for the schedule.
Proceeds will be donated to Mercy Corp,, an international relief
and development organization (www.MercyCorps.org).
